2027: Back Tinubu’s Reforms, Consolidate Gains, Information Minister Idris Tells Niger APC Leaders

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has urged leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger State to rally behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reforms and help consolidate the achievements of the administration ahead of 2027.

Idris made the appeal in Abuja while receiving the chairmen of the APC from the 25 local government areas of Niger State, who paid him a solidarity visit.

He said President Tinubu inherited serious economic and security challenges in 2023 but noted that the administration’s reforms had strengthened public finances and created more resources for development projects across the country.

According to the minister, the removal of fuel subsidy has enabled the Federal Government and state governments to invest more in agriculture, healthcare, education, road infrastructure and youth development.

He also said the reforms were restoring investor confidence, citing the return of investors and improved conditions for foreign businesses operating in Nigeria.

Highlighting key projects, Idris pointed to the ongoing Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway and other federal road projects, while noting that security had continued to improve despite existing challenges.

The minister further praised initiatives such as the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), saying the scheme had helped more than one million students gain access to tertiary education, while government was also expanding opportunities in agriculture, solid minerals and other non-oil sectors.

Idris urged APC leaders to remain united, resolve internal differences through dialogue and support President Tinubu’s reform agenda, while the delegation’s leader, Hon. Hashimu Izom, commended the minister for defending the administration and promoting the interests of Niger State at the national level.
