A driver, identified as Obi Emeka Uduka has been convicted and sentenced to one week imprisonment at the Suleja Correctional Centre for dangerous driving and other related traffic offences.
Corps Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Osondu Ohaeri, disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen on Saturday in Abuja
Ohaeri said the convict (Uduka) was apprehended on 10 September 2026 at about 1200HRS during a Mobile Court operation at the Dutse Alhaji Unit Command of the FRSC, FCT Sector Command, while driving a Pontiac Vibe.
He said the convict was arraigned before the Mobile Court on charges bordering on Dangerous Driving (DGD), Driving Licence Violation (DLV), Vehicle Licence Violation (VLV) and Resisting Arrest. Following his trial, His Worship Theresa, presiding Magistrate, found him guilty and sentenced him accordingly.
According to him, “the Corps views dangerous driving and other acts capable of compromising the safety of road users as serious offences, as such, will always ensure that all traffic violators receive necessary sanctions.
“This conviction, just like others of its kind, further demonstrates the Corps’ resolve to ensure that motorists who wilfully endanger lives on the nation’s highways are brought to justice in accordance with the law.
The Corps spokesman therefore, reiterated its appeal to motorists to obey traffic regulations, exercise caution and demonstrate responsible behaviour at all times.
He stressed that the safety of every road user remains a collective responsibility, and the FRSC will continue to deploy education, persuasion and lawful enforcement measures to promote discipline and save lives on Nigerian roads.
