INTERPOL Arraigns 3 Suspects Over Alleged $100,000 Auto Parts Scam

The Nigeria Police Force has arraigned three men before the Federal High Court in Abuja over an alleged $100,000 fraud linked to the purchase and shipment of auto spare parts from the United States.

The suspects, identified as George Ali, Anthony Ali and Simon Ali, were brought before the court by the Police through the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB), Abuja, on allegations bordering on criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust and obtaining by false pretences.

Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Iniedu, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja.

According to the police, the case followed a petition alleging that the complainant transferred $100,000 to the suspects in 2009 to facilitate the purchase and shipment of auto spare parts from the United States.

The police said investigations revealed that the transaction was allegedly not executed as agreed.

According to the statement, “It was further alleged that the transaction was not carried out as agreed and that the funds were subsequently diverted.”

The Force spokesperson said operatives of INTERPOL NCB Abuja investigated the matter before charging the suspects to court.

“Following investigation by operatives of INTERPOL NCB Abuja, the suspects were arraigned before the Federal High Court, Court 6, Maitama, Abuja. The matter was subsequently adjourned to 3rd December 2026 for further hearing,” the statement added.

The Nigeria Police Force said the prosecution reflects its commitment to tackling financial crimes and ensuring that criminal allegations are properly investigated and prosecuted.

“The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to the diligent investigation of financial crimes and other offences, while ensuring that suspects are brought before the appropriate judicial authorities in accordance with the law,” the statement said.

The case is expected to resume before the Federal High Court on December 3, 2026, for further hearing.
