The Labour Party flag bearer for Ikwerre State Constituency, Hon. Stasi Amadi, has reassured Rivers people of her determination to support measures aimed at ridding the state of crime and other related activities if given the opportunity to serve.

Amadi gave the assurance in an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt today, shortly after completing her security profiling with the Department of State Services (DSS).

She said her vision was to contribute to the emergence of a peaceful and secure Rivers State where residents could move freely and conduct their legitimate businesses without fear, stressing that security remained fundamental to economic and social development.

According to her, the state had witnessed periods when insecurity and violence affected normal social activities, including nightlife, noting that such a situation should no longer be accepted as a way of life.

The Labour Party candidate said her priority would include supporting initiatives that would strengthen security, improve public confidence and create an environment where residents could enjoy the state without unnecessary restrictions.

Amadi maintained that the days when violence was regarded as an inevitable feature of electioneering must be brought to an end, insisting that political disagreements should be resolved through dialogue, tolerance and democratic engagement.

She called on political actors and their supporters to shun violence before, during and after elections, stressing that no political ambition was worth the destruction of lives and property.

The candidate said Rivers people deserved a robust lifestyle in which businesses could operate late into the night, adding that restoring the state’s vibrant nightlife would require a sustained commitment to security and responsible governance.

She further noted that insecurity had far-reaching consequences on businesses, investments and the general wellbeing of citizens, and urged residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that could assist in preventing crime.

Amadi expressed the belief that the desired transformation could only be achieved when competent and people oriented leaders are given the opportunity to steer the affairs of the state, saying the Labour Party was prepared to provide an alternative approach to governance.

She said the party’s participation in the Rainbow Coalition had further strengthened its resolve to work with like minded political forces towards achieving peace, security and development across Rivers State.

“We in the Labour Party are out to make positive changes in the state. We are operating under the Rainbow Coalition, and that is why we are confident that things will henceforth work out finer for Rivers people,” she said.
