The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has described the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential ticket of Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi as a “joint ticket of corruption” ahead of the 2027 election.
Wike made the remarks on Monday during a town hall meeting with the Rumueme and Apara Kingdoms in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
He claimed that Atiku and Amaechi would not secure the constitutional 25 per cent of votes in Rivers State because the people know their political records.
The FCT minister recalled former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s past criticism of Atiku and questioned his anti-corruption comments.
He quoted Atiku as urging Nigerians to collect money from politicians, saying such money was allegedly stolen public funds.
Wike said President Bola Tinubu remains his main political priority and expressed confidence that the President would win reelection in 2027.
He urged Rivers people to support Tinubu, saying the President has brought development projects and key appointments to the state.
Wike also appealed to political stakeholders to avoid divisions and work together for the progress of Rivers State.
He said no one should resort to violence over politics, adding that God’s will would always prevail.
Wike also dismissed the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, and other opposition figures as unelectable politicians.
