Former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, has congratulated the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on the formation of its Presidential Campaign Council, saying the new structure reflects the party’s commitment to inclusiveness, experience and national unity.
Tambuwal, in a statement, praised the leadership of the party under Distinguished Senator David Mark, GCON, for putting together a campaign team comprising seasoned politicians, public servants and professionals with experience in governance, policy and grassroots mobilisation.
He described the appointments as an important step towards building a strong political movement capable of presenting Nigerians with an alternative vision ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The former governor congratulated Chief John Odigie Oyegun, Chairman of the Campaign Advisory Board; Alhaji Kashim Ibrahim-Imam, Chairman of the National Campaign Council; Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, Deputy Chairman; and Senator Austin Akobundu, Director-General and Campaign Manager, alongside other members of the council.
Tambuwal said the diversity of the campaign structure demonstrates the importance of bringing together people from different backgrounds and regions to work for a common national goal.
He, however, reminded members of the council that their appointments come with a responsibility to serve Nigerians and contribute to the country’s democratic development.
“Those who have been called upon to serve must recognise that the responsibility before us goes beyond individual appointments or personal recognition. It is a call to service at an important moment in our nation’s democratic journey,” Tambuwal said.
He maintained that fairness, inclusion and national balance must remain guiding principles in Nigerian politics, adding that political parties must reflect the values they promise to uphold in governance.
“As I have consistently maintained, fairness, inclusion and national balance must remain central to our politics. Our actions as a party must demonstrate the values and principles we seek to bring to the governance of our country,” he stated.
Tambuwal said the ADC has a major responsibility to convince Nigerians with a credible programme and solutions to address the country’s economic, social and governance challenges.
“The task ahead is enormous. The ADC is determined to present Nigerians with a credible alternative and a clear pathway towards addressing the challenges confronting our nation,” he added.
He urged party members to remain united, expand their reach and engage Nigerians across communities as the campaign activities gather momentum.
“We must now close ranks, strengthen our structures, engage Nigerians across every region and community, and take our message to the people,” Tambuwal said.
The ADC chieftain also reaffirmed his commitment to the party and expressed confidence in the presidential ticket of Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi, saying they have the capacity to provide the leadership needed to address Nigeria’s challenges.
“I remain fully committed to our party and our collective effort to rescue Nigeria and build a country that works for all its citizens. I am confident that the Atiku/Amaechi ticket will rescue Nigeria and provide the leadership required to address the challenges confronting our nation,” he said.
Tambuwal wished the campaign council success, calling for unity, wisdom and dedication as members begin the task ahead.
