Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have uncovered a suspected illegal factory allegedly used to produce adulterated alcoholic drinks in Badagry, arresting a 48-year-old suspect during the operation.
The police said the discovery followed credible intelligence supplied by members of the public, underscoring the role of community collaboration in tackling crime and protecting public health.
The suspect, identified as Anaebo Emeka Hilary, was arrested at Yafin, Badagry, where the suspected production facility was located.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said officers recovered suspected adulterated alcoholic drinks, empty bottles, different wine labels and several production utensils believed to have been used in the manufacture and packaging of the products.
The statement added that the suspected factory had been sealed, while the suspect was taken into custody for further investigation.
According to the police, all recovered items have been moved to the station as detectives continue investigations to establish the full scope of the alleged operation.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the operatives for acting swiftly on the information received from residents.
He also reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and sustained operations against criminal activities across the state.
The police chief urged members of the public not to relent in sharing credible and timely information with security agencies, stressing that such cooperation remains vital in preventing crime and ensuring public safety.
