The Co-Chair of the Women Mobilisation Directorate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Dr. Betta Edu, has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 will usher in a new era of economic prosperity for Nigerians.
Edu said the country had already passed through the difficult phase of economic reforms and was now approaching a period when citizens would begin to enjoy the benefits of the policies introduced by the Tinubu administration.
She stated this on Thursday during a courtesy visit by members of the PCC Women Mobilisation Directorate to the Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, who chairs the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the APC presidential campaign flag-off in the state.
“We have gone through the reform phase already. Now it is time for prosperity. We are already at the gate of prosperity once President Tinubu is re-elected,” Edu said.
The former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation said the directorate was working towards delivering nearly 40 million votes for President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in the 2027 presidential election.
According to her, the target can only be achieved through sustained grassroots mobilisation, especially among women, rather than relying solely on large political rallies.
“Our plan as the PCC mobilisation directorate is to see that we can mobilise at least close to 40 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. And we cannot do this without getting down to the grassroots,” she said.
Edu explained that the women mobilisation team would engage women in markets, communities and homes to understand their concerns, identify their needs and communicate the achievements of the Tinubu administration.
She urged APC women leaders in Kaduna State to intensify door-to-door campaigns and persuade voters peacefully, stressing that political mobilisation should be driven by engagement instead of intimidation.
The APC chieftain also commended Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani for what she described as impressive achievements in infrastructure, road construction, public transportation and the revitalisation of primary healthcare facilities.
She further praised Deputy Governor Balarabe for emerging as the first elected female deputy governor in Northwest Nigeria, describing her achievement as a milestone for women’s participation in politics and leadership.
Responding, Balarabe assured the delegation that the Kaduna State Government and the Local Organising Committee were fully prepared to ensure a successful APC presidential campaign flag-off in the state.
She disclosed that several planning meetings had already been held, adding that Kaduna’s position as the political capital of Northern Nigeria placed a huge responsibility on the state to organise a successful event.
“We try as much as possible to take any assignment given to us seriously,” she said.
The deputy governor called on members of the PCC Women Mobilisation Directorate to work closely with the LOC and other stakeholders to ensure the success of the campaign.
She also urged women leaders to sustain mobilisation efforts beyond the campaign flag-off, stressing that the ultimate objective was to convert political support into votes during the 2027 general elections.
“Our work as women is to tell all women to be on our side,” Balarabe said, urging the directorate to take the Renewed Hope Agenda and the achievements of the Tinubu administration directly to women across communities.
She expressed confidence that women in Kaduna State and across Nigeria would play a decisive role in securing victory for President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima in the 2027 presidential election if they remained united and committed to the mobilisation drive.
The visit formed part of preparations for the APC presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna State as the ruling party intensifies grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
