Nigeria’s Falconets have booked a place in the knockout stage of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland after a crushing 10-1 victory over New Caledonia.
The emphatic win in Łódź saw the Falconets finish with four points to secure second place in Group F behind Spain and advance to the next round of the tournament.
Ramotalahi Kareem and Winner Onajite David starred for Nigeria with hat-tricks, while Rebecca Adegbemile scored twice. Seimeyeha Janet Akekoromowei and Tosin Rafiu added a goal each to complete the dominant performance.
The result keeps alive Nigeria’s quest for a first FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup title as the Falconets head into the knockout stage with renewed confidence.
Reacting to the qualification, the National Sports Commission congratulated the players, coaches and the entire technical crew for their outstanding display.
The commission described the victory as a strong response from the team and expressed confidence that the Falconets would continue to impress in the knockout phase.
