Former Gongola Governor Bamanga Tukur Is Dead

The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David Mark, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Governor of the old Gongola State, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, describing his passing as a huge loss to Nigeria.

Mark, in a statement issued on Friday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Kola Ologbondiyan, said the country had lost a distinguished statesman at a time when Nigeria needed the wisdom, experience and guidance of its elder leaders.

He said Tukur made immense contributions to Nigeria’s political, administrative and economic development through decades of public service.

According to the former Senate President, the late Tukur served the nation with distinction as Governor of the old Gongola State, Minister of Industries and later as National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Mark also described the deceased as an accomplished businessman and respected international figure whose impact went beyond politics to national development and institution-building.

“Alhaji Bamanga Tukur belonged to a generation of Nigerians who devoted their lives to the service of the country. His journey through public service, business and politics was remarkable, and his counsel and experience will be greatly missed.

“His death is not only a loss to his family and the people of Adamawa State, but also to Nigeria as a whole. At this difficult moment, we must remember and celebrate the values of service, patriotism and national unity that characterised his long public career.”

The ADC national chairman extended his condolences to the Tukur family, the government and people of Adamawa State, as well as the late statesman’s associates and political colleagues.

He prayed Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, grant him eternal rest and give his family the strength to bear the painful loss.
