The executive governor of Niger State, farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago led a State government delegation to the three day Prayers held for the 37 artisanal miners who died under NSCDC custody in Minna.
The special prayer which held at the central Mosque Tunga, was led by the Chief Imam of Minna, Malam Jibril Isah who offered series of prayers for the repose of the souls of the deceased.
Farmer Umaru Bago at the event urged the youth to remain calm and be law abiding as government is on top of the situation.
He appealed to Nigerlites to keep away from violence and remain law abiding citizens.
Farmer Bago disclosed that the government is doing everything possible to get to the crux of the matter, and when investigations are finalized, it will be made public.
He said, the government in collaboration with the Minna Emirate is taking the data of the families of all those who died and give them palliatives and support to the families including those recuperating at the hospital.
The farmer governor said the government has been holding series of meetings with the the Nigeria Miners Association and the Mine workers association to discuss on way forward while insisting that the ban on mining is still enforced.
