Lagos Police Bust Alleged Carjacking Syndicate, Arrest 3 Suspects

Lagos Police have arrested three suspected armed robbers and carjackers in Alakuko, recovering three locally made pistols and eight rounds of live ammunition during the operation.

The suspects, identified as Faruk Rasheed, 20; Olamilekan Ademola, 28; and Abidemi Oluwawemo, 21, were apprehended by police operatives following credible intelligence linking them to a series of violent crimes.

Police said preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects allegedly specialised in snatching vehicles and robbing residents of their valuables in different parts of Lagos.

During a search conducted after their arrest, officers recovered three locally made firearms, including two pistols loaded with five cartridges and one locally made revolver containing three rounds of 9mm live ammunition.

The suspects remain in police custody as detectives intensify efforts to track down and arrest other members of the criminal gang believed to be at large.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, reaffirmed the Command’s determination to rid the state of violent criminals.

The police commissioner said the Command remains committed to dismantling criminal networks operating across Lagos.

He “reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the safety and security of residents across Lagos State.”

The police assured residents that operations targeting armed robbery, carjacking and other violent crimes will continue across the state as part of efforts to enhance public safety.
