Nigeria has intensified its drive to attract foreign investment into the oil and gas sector as the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited showcased the country’s energy opportunities at the 2026 Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC).
The global energy conference opened on Monday in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, with governments, international energy companies, investors and industry leaders in attendance.
The NNPC delegation was led by its Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, alongside other members of the company’s senior management.
Also representing Nigeria at the event were the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. Dr. Ekperikpe Ekpo, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Patience Oyekunle, and the Commission Chief Executive of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), Mrs. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan.
Following the opening ceremony, NNPC unveiled its exhibition stand, highlighting investment opportunities across Nigeria’s upstream, midstream and downstream petroleum industries.
The company is engaging governments, financiers, business partners and international stakeholders with the aim of attracting fresh capital into the country’s energy sector.
The exhibition stand also received early visits from NNPC Board Chairman, Ahmadu Musa Kida, members of the company’s board and President and Chief Executive of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote.
NNPC said its participation at ADIPEC also includes presentations by members of its leadership during strategic and technical conference sessions focused on the future of global energy supply.
The company is using the platform to promote Nigeria as an attractive destination for investment in oil, gas and energy infrastructure.
ADIPEC is one of the world’s largest energy conferences, bringing together policymakers, investors, technology providers and energy executives from across the globe.
The 2026 edition is expected to host more than 239,000 participants from over 170 countries during the four-day event.
The conference is being held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, and is hosted by ADNOC.
Nigeria’s participation reflects ongoing efforts to secure new investments, strengthen international partnerships and support the development of the country’s energy industry.
Analysts say attracting foreign investment into the petroleum sector remains critical to increasing production, expanding gas utilisation, creating jobs and boosting government revenue as Nigeria pursues long-term economic growth.
