The Plateau State Government has imposed a 12-hour dusk-to-dawn curfew on Barkin Ladi, Bokkos and Mangu Local Government Areas over rising security threats.
The curfew, which took effect on Monday, September 21, runs daily from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. until further notice.
Commissioner for Information and Communication, Rt. Hon. Joyce Lohya Ramnap, announced the decision in a statement issued on Monday.
She said the measure is to restore public order, protect lives and allow security agencies to stabilise the affected communities.
The government also announced an immediate ban on the use of motorcycles across the three local government areas.
However, it did not state whether the motorcycle ban applies only during the curfew hours or throughout the day.
Residents were directed to obey the restrictions and adjust their business, farming and personal activities to the approved hours.
The government assured that security operatives would enforce the directives professionally and urged residents to cooperate for the safety of everyone.
