Human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore has claimed that recent comments by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike have confirmed that secret political alliances influenced the 2023 general election.
The African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate made the allegation in a post on his verified X handle on Tuesday.
Sowore asked Nigerians to recall the G5 governors’ meetings, Wike’s political moves, and Peter Obi’s visits to Rivers State before the election.
He also mentioned a meeting involving former President Olusegun Obasanjo in London.
According to him, those events showed that political negotiations were taking place behind the scenes.
Sowore alleged that some politicians secretly worked to support President Bola Tinubu while presenting a different image in public.
He said he had always maintained that the 2023 election involved undisclosed political agreements and claimed recent events had vindicated his position.
Sowore urged Nigerians to compare what political leaders said before the election with Wike’s recent remarks.
His comments followed public discussions over Wike’s statements on political developments leading to the 2023 election, although he did not specify the exact remarks he was referring to.
As of the time of filing this report, Wike, Peter Obi and other individuals mentioned by Sowore had not responded to the allegations.
