Troops Foil Terrorists’ Attack On Kebbi Base, Recover 17 Motorcycles, Weapons

Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, repelled an attack by Lakurawa terrorists on a Forward Operating Base in Maiyama, Kebbi State, in the early hours of October 7, 2026.

The attackers, reportedly numbering several and operating on more than 100 motorcycles, used assorted weapons, including general-purpose machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades. Troops responded swiftly, forcing the terrorists to withdraw and abandon weapons, equipment and other logistics.

A follow-up exploitation and pursuit operation recovered 17 motorcycles, one PKT machine gun, an AK-47 rifle, assorted ammunition and a communication device believed to have been used by the group.

The military said the recoveries significantly weakened the terrorists’ operational capability in the area.
