The Imo State Police Command has confirmed the death of 17-year-old Chiamaka Chukwuokore, who was allegedly pushed from a two-storey building by Ifeanyi Chukwu Joseph, 26, the boyfriend of her aunt, in Owerri.
The incident, which occurred on November 1, 2026, along Mbonu Ejike Street, Ikeneagbu, Owerri, left the teenager with severe injuries.
According to the police, Chukwuokore was immediately rushed to a hospital where she received medical attention but sadly died on the evening of November 3, 2026, while undergoing treatment.
The command said the suspect remains in police custody as detectives continue investigations to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.
It added that efforts are ongoing to ensure that anyone found culpable faces the full weight of the law.
The Imo State Commissioner of Police, CP Audu Garba Bosso, psc(+), expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and assured members of the public that the investigation would be thorough and justice would be served.
