President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on Friday begin a two-state visit to Akwa Ibom and Rivers States, combining official engagements with political activities as his re-election campaign continues to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general election.
The President is expected to first arrive in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, where he will commission several landmark projects completed by the administration of Governor Umo Eno before attending a political rally.
Among the projects scheduled for inauguration are the new International Terminal Building, the International Airport Hospital and the Ibom Aviation Village, all located within the Victor Attah International Airport. He will also commission the Airport–Okopedi Road in Nsit Atai and Okobo Local Government Areas, Ring Road 3 linking Idoro Road to Ikot Ekpene Road through Uyo and Ibiono Ibom, the AKWA-GIS Office Complex, the Command and Control Centre, and the ARISE Palm Resort.
Governor Umo Eno has declared Friday a work-free day in Akwa Ibom to enable residents to give the President a warm reception during the visit.
On Saturday, President Tinubu will proceed to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he is expected to participate in the All Progressives Congress (APC) rally.
The Rivers rally will be the President’s third major campaign outing since he flagged off his re-election campaign in Kaduna last month, underscoring the ruling party’s efforts to strengthen support across key states ahead of the 2027 polls.
The visits are also expected to provide an opportunity for President Tinubu to meet with political leaders, APC members and supporters in both states as the party intensifies consultations and mobilisation.
According to a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the engagements will emphasise unity, political stability and a shared commitment to Nigeria’s continued progress.
The South-South has become a strategic region in the build-up to the 2027 elections, making the President’s visits to Akwa Ibom and Rivers politically significant for the APC’s campaign.
The visits are expected to further reinforce the administration’s message of combining infrastructure development with political engagement as the election season gathers pace.
