The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has urged its staff to go beyond their routine duties by delivering professional, timely and people-centred services to Nigerians.

The Commission made the call during its 2026 Customer Service Week celebration held at its headquarters in Abuja with the theme, “Going the Extra Mile.”

Speaking on behalf of the INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan (SAN), National Commissioner Prof. Rhoda Gumus said every staff member represents the image of the Commission.

She said every interaction with voters, political parties and other stakeholders should reflect professionalism, integrity and respect.

Gumus encouraged staff to take responsibility for their duties and always provide practical solutions to challenges instead of doing only the minimum required.

She described going the extra mile as making additional efforts to ensure that citizens receive quality service and support whenever they engage with the Commission.

The Commission said public confidence in the electoral process depends largely on how its officials treat Nigerians and carry out their responsibilities.

INEC also stressed that excellent customer service should become a permanent culture and not be limited to the annual celebration.

The Commission noted that it is currently carrying out activities such as the display of the voters’ register and the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), while continuing voter education and stakeholder engagement across the country.

It added that transparency, accountability, timely response to public enquiries and effective communication remain essential to building trust and ensuring credible elections.
