Former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, has mourned the death of former Vice-Chancellor of Pan-Atlantic University (PAU) and former Director-General of Lagos Business School (LBS), Professor Albert Alos, describing his passing as a painful loss to Nigeria.
In a condolence message posted on his X handle on Monday, Obi said he was saddened to learn of the professor’s death after a brief illness.
The former Anambra State governor recalled meeting Alos more than 20 years ago during a Chief Executive Programme at Lagos Business School, saying the late academic left an enduring impression on him.
“I first met Prof. Alos when I was attending a Chief Executive Programme at Lagos Business School (LBS) over 20 years ago,” Obi said.
He described the late professor as a man of humility and wisdom who devoted his life to mentoring others and offering practical solutions to their challenges.
According to Obi, one lesson he will never forget is Alos’ unwavering commitment to character, integrity and excellence, values he consistently demonstrated throughout his life.
“Prof. Alos was the first person I met who taught the importance of character and integrity and, more importantly, truly lived by those virtues. He firmly believed that Nigeria could be rescued from the woods through character, integrity, and a commitment to excellence,” he stated.
Obi said Professor Alos’ death had created a huge vacuum in Nigeria’s academic and business communities, noting that his contributions would remain a source of inspiration to many generations.
He concluded with a prayer for the deceased, saying, “May God Almighty, who called him home, grant him eternal rest in His kingdom.”
