Vice President Kashim Shettima on Friday conveyed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s condolences to the family of the late elder statesman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, during a condolence visit to the family residence, Tukur Lodge, in Adamawa State.
The Vice President visited the family shortly after paying homage to the Lamido of Adamawa, Alhaji (Dr.) Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Musdafa.
Speaking during the visit, Shettima described the late Bamanga Tukur as a quintessential statesman and accomplished Nigerian whose contributions to public service, entrepreneurship and national development would remain unforgettable.
He said the late elder statesman lived a life worthy of celebration because of his distinguished record of service to the nation.
Shettima also commended Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, for the support extended to the Tukur family during their period of mourning.
He urged members of the family to remain united and preserve the values of peace, service and family cohesion that their late patriarch was known for.
Responding on behalf of the family, the deceased’s first son and Secretary to the Adamawa State Government, Alhaji Awwal Tukur, thanked President Tinubu for his message of condolence and expressed appreciation to Vice President Shettima and the Federal Government delegation for the visit.
The late Bamanga Tukur, a respected businessman, former minister and elder statesman, is being remembered across Nigeria for his contributions to governance, national development and public service.
